Nesting…Knocking out a Nursery!

This was one of my favourite things to do in preparation for our LO’s arrival. We love nature and wild animals so deciding on an “classy jungle” theme was a no brainer. Something simple, clean, and serene would translate into a sleepy sophisticated setting for our LO to rest his head. We plan on converting our guest bedroom into more bright and stimulating play room. Not only would a dichromatic nursery yield pleasant dreams, it is also gender neutral. This way when we have our next LO we can incorporate other accent colours, like perhaps, pink! ;)

Here’s a breakdown of the finished room.

1. Crib

I really was naive to just how costly some of these bad boys can be! That being said, there certainly is a correlation between the level of quality with price. After a long search, we decided on this crib at  Sears. An important feature is that it changes into a toddler bed and a full bed so, its definitely an investment piece! We also opted for this crib mattress. We also invested in a Moses basket to use during the early breastfeeding months.

2. Crib bedding

I wanted to keep the crib linens neutral, light and fresh. After a long search for some “not so cutesy” comforts, we found  this online from Serena & Lily, California.

 3. Crib mobile

Between 2-3 months old, your LO will become enthralled with these wonders. We found this co-ordinating mobile at Winners.

 4. DIY Wall art-Frames-Micheal’s Art Store, photos blown up at WalMart

5. Blanket-shower gift

We absolutely love this blanket! We believe its this one from Baby’s R Us.

 6. Cheetah Rug-re-worked existing decor piece

 7. Stick bunch-Homesense

 8.Monkey Hamper-shower gift from Baby’s R Us

9.Change table-$40 flea market find (wicker dresser), New at Canadian Tire for $249.99!

10.Name wall plaque -fathers’ keepsake hand me down….priceless!!

Tip! Take pictures when assembling nursery so you can later show your LO just how much care you put into his head haven.
