Dad’s Guide to Labour and Delivery

For all of you brave souls who have also decided to go “all in” for the arrival of your little one, here’s a dad’s guide for labour and delivery.

Being our first, my husband decided early on in our pregnancy that he wanted to be as involved as possible with the labour and delivery of our son.This came as a complete surprise to me, as he normally cringes at the mention of needles or the slightest bit of gore. But knowing that he would more or less be a spectator over the span of nine months, he was motivated and excited to be a physical part of welcoming our son into this world.

Valentine’s Day Surprise

I don’t know about you but becoming a BrandNewMom has changed my perspective on celebrating certain ‘holidays’. My birthday, pagan holidays etc. just don’t seem to carry the same excitement as they used to. It’s not that these days all of a sudden lack importance but emphasis on their celebration has changed. Perhaps, it’s because with age comes repetition and a little less surprise factor. But I think it’s more that since becoming a parent, my excitement comes from my son and his excitement/experience of the holidays rather than my own. Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely still nice to be on the receiving end of thoughtful gifts and gestures but my heartstrings are tugged when I see my LO’s face light up, his little grin and hear that squeal!

Despite this, my husband on the other hand continues to celebrate our love no matter what dynamic our little family is going through.

Starbuck’s Copy Cat Coffee Cake

Like most, my husband and I love waking up to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and fresh baked goods first thing in the a.m. I know, I know…I should be blending an all green smoothie or making an egg white omelette but nothing beats the comfort of a warm confection accompanying the perfect morning brew! We usually like to dip cookies in our java but it was just one of those days I was craving something a little more calorically substantial. After perusing some recipes on Pinterest, I found this one! Every time I go into the place I’m always eyeing the Starbuck’s Coffee CakeI couldn’t resist and since I had all the ingredients, I decided to give it a try!
