Today is my birthday!
You might be thinking, “Okay, judging by the post title, I thought this was going to be about her wedding day or the day her son was born…something along those lines!” While those were definitely amazing benchmarks in my life thus far, I was recently inspired by the lyrics of a song today that made me wonder,
why shouldn’t EVERYDAY be the BEST day of your life?!
That moment when…
In the morning my husband cooked us a full breakfast and he watched the bubbs so I could spend the lunch hour submerged in the calm ripple of an Epsom salt bath. Ahhhhhh:) This is a rare occasion and a real treat but when I do get the time, I play some music to set the mood. After some spiritual sounds of Hillsong United, came a catchy beat called, “Best day of my life” by American Authors. As I watched my fingertips shrivel into raisins, the lyrics of the song struck a few chords in me.
Having my birthday so close to New Years has had its pros and cons. However this year, one of the pros is that along with a broad spectrum of New Year’s resolutions comes a ‘lifestyle revolution’. BEST to me encompasses emotional, physical and spiritual health and this bath got me pumped up to nurture all three! What a bath! lol
A lot of people have asked my what my resolutions are for 2015…
As I get, ahem, older, I increasingly realize just how each and every breath of life is a blessing. So why would it make sense to waste one second on worry, anger, negativity or dwell on anything in the past. Why not live each day to its’ fullest, pray to be a better, healthier, positive you, err, me? Don’t get me wrong, life definitely has it’s many responsibilities and I’m not saying to ignore them. But rather accept each new hiccup as a unique challenge for personal growth and give thanks to God for presenting that opportunity in the first place. Just think if more people took the time to ensure each day was lived as if it were their BEST, imagine what a wonderful place it would be!

The song lyrics talk about having a dream or passion (no matter how seemingly silly or far-fetched) and going for it, which, made my heart smile! From the positive beat to the message in the song, I couldn’t help but feel rejuvenated and inspired by it!
English was my second language and always my lowest mark in school growing up. I went to college which was more applied than theory. But God had a different plan for me and all of a sudden, I was immersed in the University environment. Fast forward to umpteen essays later, here I am still, writing! I don’t pride myself on perfect syntax, spelling or grammar but am thankful I am able to grow and learn this craft. My dream and passion has become this very blog! Blogging has it’s ways of opening up my heart and nurturing my soul allowing for that emotional and spiritual growth. Whether it could ever mean gainful employment is neither here nor there because it makes me happy and I feel God has lead me all this way here.
Physically, I have been sick for about a month but am chomping at the bit to get back into the gym and get back on track!
These lyrics also inspire me to self-reflect and pray to God to help me in all the areas where I fall short….and I’m 5’1″!! Seriously though, as a wife, friend, sister, daughter, Aunt and mother, I pray that for 2015 Christ’s glory and love shines through spiritually, physically and emotionally every moment so none of this gifted precious time on Earth is wasted.
So there you have it my 2015 New Years- Birthday Revolution!
